On May 13, Condoleezza Rice will fly into Canada, despite Canadian law which says she is to be barred from entry or held for investigation pending prosecution as a "credibly accused" war criminal. Unfortunately the political process trumps the legal process in these cases, so George Galloway MP is barred as a "terrorist sympathizer" but Rice is feted at U of C.

Officially, war resisters are being deported while those guilty of the worst of war crimes, are being welcomed. Where are the voices of protest from Canadian academics or even other University Presidents? Let it be widely known and recorded that there was no significant opposition from these quarters. And of course the politicians too. Neither the NDP nor the Liberals will touch the issue of US war criminals in Canada, according to Lawyers Against War.
If you haven't heard any of this it's because the corporate mainstream media isn't telling you either.

Where are the supposedly progressive voices of Mayor Miller of Toronto, MPP Rosario Marchese, or Adam Vaughn, for instance, to oppose Toronto's grotesque 'World War- Criminal Weekend' May 29-31 when hogtown hosts George Bush, Bill Clinton, John Bolton, Michael Chertoff and Australian Bush-puppet Prime Minister/Harper speechwriter John Howard? Money-making hundreds of thousands, in what Bush called "ridiculous money", off the backs of so many more innocent dead, made by these dirty, bloody hands? Perhaps they're not really that progressive at all, these Toronto voices?

Let all who are able then, attend and protest these obscene circuses and the monsters who participate in them. These are truly the worst crimes it is possible for human beings to commit. There must be accountability, not impunity for such crimes. Let this inform our response and reactions to this issue. The world will be watching Canada.
