Depuis le début de l’année 2011, 19 États américains ont adopté un total de quatre-vingts lois antiavortement. Un record! Le dernier record de ce genre remonte à 2005 : 34 lois en une année.  Cinq États (Oklahoma, Kansas, Indiana, Idaho et Alabama) ont adopté des lois interdisant l’avortement après 20 semaines de gestation.
