VANCOUVER - Streams of Justice members took the scary housing crisis to SkyTrain riders on Saturday. As well as ghosts handing out housing info between Broadway and Olympic Village stations, a tableau showed a single parent waiting years for social housing while a developer tried to give away the key to the Village to a rich "investor".

Several women who attempted to present a letter demanding action on murdered and missing women...were locked in the police station and threatened with arrest...Five eventually left and the three who chose not to leave were charged with "assault by trespass."

About 15 years ago one of the hot topics in the Vancouver papers was the plan for an at-grade light rail line from Coquitlam to UBC that would have taken up two lanes on Broadway and the Lougheed Highway. The plan was that rapid transit would connect Coquitlam and central Broadway within a few years.

...I went to Toronto to exercise my civil rights and march in active opposition to the G8 and G20 meetings being held there. On Sunday June 27th, I attended a jail solidarity protest that was peaceful. Without warning a line of riot police started moving towards us, and while running away, I was shot twice with rubber bullets, then arrested and incarcerated for 30 hours. I have been charged with obstruction of a peace officer. I have never been more terrified, more dehumanized or more in pain than I was that day. I wish my story were unique.
