<div class='node-body'><p>As the world continues its addiction to oil, &quot;ultra-deep&quot; wells -- those drilled 1.5 km (4,500 feet) deep or more -- are now at historic levels with no signs of abating, <em>Reuters</em> <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/08/17/us-oil-offshore-scale-idUSBRE87G0N620120817">reports</a>.</p>
