Renowned journalist and founder of the National League for Democracy U Win Tin [was] released from infamous Insein Prison after 19 years of false imprisonment. Also included in this surprising act of humanity were NLA dignitaries Dau May Win Maung, Aung Soe Myint, U Aye Thin as well as 9,000 other prisoners. Obviously not included on this list was Aung San Suu Kyi.

An innocent little Kachin girl was rapped and murdered by Burmese government troops. It was a most horrific tale for someone so young to endure. The details of which were beyond imagination.

Are the Olympics financing murder and rape?

There is no level to low for the insurance industry when a profit can be made. At the expense of humanity, insurance companies come to the aid of iron fisted General Than Shwe of Burma. Though Than Shwe is being allowed to starve thousands of people to death, insurance companies world wide have come to the aid of this criminal regime.

Burma, the survivors of cyclone Nargis have suffered greatly since General Than Shwe kept aid workers from reaching the vast majority of these people in the delta. How are they surviving? You would not believe it...

With Than Shwe opening the doors to humanitarian aid, one has to wonder if this is just another ploy to gather more money and items to be sold on the black market.

Than Shwe and his merry band of thugs have taken full advantage of the chaos the cyclone has left his nation. With humanitarian aid filling the warehouses of his regime he will profit from black market sales of these goods, there is no question. His policy of distributing rancid food stuffs to villages, if at all, is common place. Why should he reward those who oppose him?

...The cyclone, meanwhile, has presented them with one last, vast business opportunity: by blocking aid from reaching the highly fertile Irrawaddy delta, hundreds of thousands of mostly ethnic Karen rice farmers are being sentenced to death. According to Farmaner, "that land can be handed over to the generals' business cronies" (shades of the beachfront land grabs in Sri Lanka and Thailand after the Asian tsunami). This isn't incompetence, or even madness. It's laissez-faire ethnic cleansing.

Gleefully Than Shwe counts the votes in his bogus Constitutional Referendum after taking full advantage of the enormous loss of life. Granted the dead would have voted against this fetid piece of paper anyway. But what ticks me off is the fact it took a cyclone to get the world's attention in the first place. As usual it required dead bloating bodies in numbers hard to ignore before the mainstream media addressed the brutality [of] this military junta. Where is China and their wealth of resources in this time of crisis? Oh, I guess they made nice by climbing a mountain to promote their Blood Olympics.

As the world finally rallies to the aid of millions stricken by the cyclone there is a hint of caution they must know. Sources within Burma have said Than Shwe has and will take all aid and resell them on the black market. The truly needy will not see any aid what so ever. It has been a common practice for this criminal government to take any aid meant for the needy and peddle it to the highest bidder.

While the world ponders how to convince China, the real power behind the Corrupt Military Junta of Burma, to stop the bloodshed, the environment has been ignored. Deforestation has destroyed the soil with unchecked erosion. Putrid water littered with garbage and industrial waste line many waterways. And the total break down of medical services as well as other environmental and health issues has made this nation ripe for disease and pestilence on a grand scale.

As the world media reacts to China’s horrific actions taken against the Monks, I have to wonder why the media has not taken such a stance against the Military Junta of Burma. Clearly the people of Burma have been under siege for about 50 years as Than Shwe and his merry band of thugs killed their way into the hearts of millions.

With a new highway completed that runs through Papun District and 60 new military encampments in the northern region of Karen State[,] [f]resh well equipped troops from Burma’s Military Operations Command Units 4 and 16 launched a March offensive against 8 Karen villages. Villagers ran for the safety of the jungle as mortars rained down on their huts, livestock and inhabitance. With orders to shoot, soldiers shot randomly while Karen villagers fled into the jungle.

Inadvertently the United Nations has qualified the criminal junta that has enslaved the nation of Burma. Liken to Nevil Chamberland and his association with Adolf Hitler, Gambari and the military junta have become bedfellows. This new so called “Constitution” is nothing more than criminality on paper and will one day be part an parcel evidence whence the criminals of “Crimes Against Humanity” come to trial.
