The United States and its allies continue to escalate their military aggression against Syria...Every day brings fresh indications of preparations for war against not only Syria, but also Lebanon and Iran, threatening a region-wide conflagration that could yet involve Russia and China.
They didn't surprise. Media scoundrels support his worst policies. His neoliberal harshness is endorsed. His alliance with monied interests gets no coverage.

...[T]he Left seems powerless...to translate critique into practice, to mobilize against wars, to resist incursions against basic civil liberties, powerless to confront rule by the bondholders and hedge-funders, unable to meaningfully obstruct the cutting edge of a parasitical economic system that glorifies greed while preying on the weakest and most destitute...We have reached a moment of historical failure that would make even Nietzsche shudder.

Musician Ray Manzarek, a founding member of renowned rock band The Doors, died May 20 in Rosenheim, Germany, where he had traveled for treatment of bile duct cancer. Manzarek’s inspired and versatile keyboard playing was central to The Doors’ music and in later years the always-spirited musician would serve as a kind of keeper of the band’s legacy.

Little evidence has emerged, in the years since the horrific violence of 9/11, of any widespread threat from al-Qaeda within the United States. Nevertheless, politicians have used that potent memory to fund an enormous domestic surveillance infrastructure. The result of this trough of money and excess capacity — the turning of “counter-terrorism” resources against law-abiding American citizens — was utterly predictable.
Imperial warriors, apologists and supporters never say they're sorry. They want more nations attacked. It's the American way.

Predators must have knowledge about their prey if they are going to be successful hunters. It is clear that we have been studied and our weaknesses have been exploited in an effort to exhaust us economically, physically and spiritually. Renowned researcher, Alan Watt goes so far as to state that the perpetrators responsible for this ultimately want to destroy any sense of individuality in us whatsoever.

"Taking away humanitarian discretion, which we have never not had, is a fundamental change in the way we look at non-citizens...I believe there should have been a national debate about whether or not we want to go there in terms of being a mean, petty, disgusting country."

The killing of...Lee Rigby...near London’s Woolwich army barracks on Wednesday was a horrific act. Rigby was first run down by two men in a car, who then set about him with knives and a cleaver...One of the men who carried out the killing was identified as Michael Adebolajo, a 28-year-old British citizen of Nigerian descent. The other has only been identified as a naturalized Nigerian. Both were shot by police and are in hospital, one in critical condition.
US imperial wars reflect mass slaughter, widespread destruction, ecocide, resource theft, exploitation, unspeakable human pain, suffering and misery, as well as permanent occupation.
Stockholm was braced for a fifth night of riots as violent unrest that began almost a week ago in the northern suburbs of the Swedish capital continued to spread to other corners of the city.
Washington bears full responsibility for planning and implementing over two years of proxy war. It's illegitimate. It's lawless.
Israel's Operation Pillar of Cloud was naked, premeditated aggression.
