Once a Black Robe, Always a Black Robe

After lengthy debate, the Mostly Water Collective has decided that this web site is not the appropriate forum for the article "Once a Black Robe, Always a Black Robe".

News Feeds are Back

Mostly Water is once again able to provide syndicated news feeds. We currently carry content from over 40 other web sites and are expanding as more sites start to offer syndicated feeds. You can either check out the list of all the sites we syndicate OR go directly to the latest syndicated content as it rolls in. These options are also available under the "browse" menu at the top of every page.

If there is a site that you like to read and would like to see us carry their content, let us know. There may still be a few problems with the way the feeds are displayed but we'll take care of that over the next while.

[Update] Mostly Water Upgrades

Security upgrades to the web server and to Drupal (the content management system that Mostly Water runs on) have had some effects on the web site. At the moment, the major effects are that news feeds are not being aggregated and some stories are missing bits. When time permits, I'll work on restoring the feeds but it may take a while. It should be possible in the long run. Thanks again for your patience.

Ron, For the MW Collective.

More News Feeds Added to Mostly Water

Mostly Water has updated the selection of news feeds that you can read through our site.

News feeds are a way that web sites share content, allowing you to see what many sites are publishing, all from one handy location.

Mostly Water Getting Updated

The web site is currently undergoing an upgrade. For the most part, it will still be usable but you may notice some strange behaviours tonight. Not to worry, the site will be back to normal in no time and will have a bunch of added functionality. Thanks for your patience.

Ron

Syndicated News Feeds Updated - Check Your User Settings

Mostly Water carries a number of syndicated news feeds. Essentially, these are stories from other news sites that we "include" on our site so you can scan a bunch of news sites all from one place. If you haven't seen them, you can find them here.

We have recently changed the way syndication is done on the site. If you have an MW account and have changed your default user settings to display news feed blocks on your front page, you will have to re-enable those settings.

New site design

Shouts go out to Mosa for workin' her ass off to get the new Mostly Water site design up and ready. Yeah Mosa! It's a refreshing break from the standard red&black used by just about every other lefty web site out there.

If you still want to read Mostly Water with the old "Resist" theme, you can log in, go to your account preferences and choose it from the list at the bottom of the page.

We hope to offer you other theme choices in the near future for your browsing pleasure.

thanks, resist admins!

A big thanks and congratulations to the resist collective for doing such a great job revamping the site. It looks great, and i think it'll be very useful for the community. It sorta reminds me of the new narconews style...they started something called the NarcoSphere where various members contribute blog entries, and some of those blog entries make it to the main page. a very interesting collaborative news idea.

i can't wait to see how resist evolves in the future :)

Resist! News Summer Slowdown

The Resist! News Collective is in the middle of what is shaping up to be an annual summer slow-down. The three active editors are all on the road for most of August so there will be fewer news stories and updates will be more sporadic until September when we all settle back into our routines and launch the new web site. Make sure you come back then and check it out. The new site will be bringing a lot of new features which we hope will help us help you create an even better, information rich site for activists and those wanting a different perspective on the world.

See you then!

ron -- for the collective.

New racism logo poll

Racism Logo Poll

We need your help to figure out what to do with the logo for the racism topic. It has been brought to our attention that the current logo (the green alien to your right) may not be the best choice for this topic. Please vote in the attached poll to help us decide which logo to go with. If you think of a better option, log in and make a comment on this story and post a link to a better image if you can. See the rest of the story for more details.

Resist.ca Turns Two

Happy birthday to Resist.ca! Although the Resist! Collective has been around in
one form or another for over five years now, we have only been running the
resist.ca website and offering @resist.ca email addresses and lists to social
justice focused individuals and organizations around the globe since October 26,
2002.

Resist.ca servers moving

This coming Monday, August 23rd, we are moving the resist.ca servers. This move will mean at least a minimum of a few hours downtime and, because of major re-configurations resulting from the move, could mean sporadic connection problems over the following 24 hours.

Upcoming Downtime - Wednesday, July 21 & July 31

Hardware repairs and a move for the servers will require some downtime over the next while. This will affect the website as well as email services for those of you using resist.ca email accounts or lists. Read on for details.
