It seems not more than a few months can go by without Vancouver area cops assaulting, harassing or killing someone or violating their rights. Now a Concierge working at a luxury condo in Vancouver's trendy Yaletown area alleges Vancouver cops roughed him up over an incident involving a former resident. The incident was captured on video.
Apparently, condo residents are considering making a formal complaint: not even Vancouver yuppies feel safe from arrogant, bullying cops who act like they're not accountable to anybody but themselves!
37 years ago in Louisiana, 3 young black men were silenced for trying to expose continued segregation, systematic corruption, and horrific abuse in the biggest prison in the US, an 18,000-acre former slave plantation called Angola. In 1972 and 1973 prison officials charged Herman Wallace, Albert Woodfox, and Robert King with murders they did not commit and threw them into 6x9 ft. cells in solitary confinement, for over 36 years. Robert was freed in 2001, but Herman and Albert remain behind bars.

This New Year's, activists will be leading a delegation to END the seige on Gaza.
Documented violations in this closely watched case convince groups as diverse as Amnesty International and the national NAACP that Abu-Jamal is the victim of double standards of justice. The NAACP approved a resolution at its centennial convention in July 2009 calling on the US Department of Justice to investigate civil rights violations in the Abu-Jamal case.

Thanks in large part to the support of powerful 'middle power' states such as Canada, and the support of private U.S.-based liberal philanthropic organizations and think tanks, [Responsibility to Protect] was able to move "from policy journal to policymaking over the space of a few years"...R2P [is] "a new norm that, in practice, will give more power to Great Britain and the United States to intervene in the internal affairs of other states."

Both Staughton Lynd (a Marxist from the US) and his co-author Andrej Grubacic (an anarchist from the Balkans) of the book Wobblies and Zapatistas: Conversations on Anarchism, Marxism and Radical History, are public supporters of the Zapatistas, who they argue have set a powerful example of revolutionary organizing that should influence anti-capitalists around the world. Much like the historical traditions of the Haymarket Martyrs and the ‘Wobblies’ (the Industrial Workers of the World) in the United States, Lynd and Grubacic argue that the Zapatistas have synthesized the best aspects of both the Marxist and anarchist traditions.

Cheney's CIA assassination bureau scheme was envisioned as a US copy of the Israeli program of assassination of Palestinian leaders and other designated enemies. This type of program is run by a nation's spy agency, which then calls on the military as needed to provide the firepower for an assassination, whether by commando units, aerial bombardment or missile strikes.
A recent Youtube interview with Norman Finkelstein outlines plans for a demonstration involving 5000 internationals and 500,000 Palestinians marching on an Israeli checkpoint to impose International Law.
