Platinex Inc. Vs. Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug First Nation

The Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug (Big Trout Lake) First Nation is being sued for more than $10 billion by a Canadian mining company, Platinex Inc., because they have made a stand to protect their treaty and aboriginal rights pending resolution of their legal dispute with the federal and provincial governments. The mining company attempted to proceed despite the community consensus against the project which is now seeking a court order to proceed despite the failure by the Provincial government to consult with KI.

Members of KI are coming to Toronto by foot – more than 2,000 kilometres – in order to raise awareness and support. You can get more info and keep in touch with the “Kitchenuhmaykoosib Awareness Walk: our land, our children our future” through the links below:

I guess it should come as no

I guess it should come as no surpise to most Canadians in the minority , Why we as a people always end up on the outside looking in.I myself am told/taught to be proud of who I am...Such is not the case when it comes to Mainstream Canada.I personally have felt the sting of prejudice and racism countless times. How all of the world can view Canada as one of the best societies to live in baffles me? We project ourselves to be caring and supportive of other causes in so many ways. Why is it then ... My community is forced to deal with this 10 billion dollar lawsuit from this company? Is the government trying to finally achieve what it couldn't do with the genocide of the first peoples of this great land of *Ours? My land is your land , I am grateful to be called a Canadian given the facts of my impending loss or landmark victory. P.S It should also be of great importance the lake will die if we should lose this case.
