On Aug. 1, 2002, I left behind the comfortably roomy semicircle marked "married-couple household" on the Census Bureau pie chart and slipped into an inconspicuous wedge labeled "two or more people, nonfamily." Having separated from my husband of 28 years the day before, I opened our three-bedroom 1927 Colonial Revival house to a group of men and women less than half my age. Overnight, the home I had lived in for 12 years became a seven-person anarchist collective, run by consensus and fueled by punk music, curse-studded conversation and food scavenged from Dumpsters.
On March 6th, 2006, South Korean military riot police began an attack on the autonomous village of Daechuri. For over four years, Daechuri and the nearby community of Doduri have defiantly resisted the siezure of their homes and fields for the expansion of an United States Army base. Barracaded inside the elementary school, rice farmers, elderly residents, and peace activists are holding out against sporadic, sometimes intense attacks by Korea's elite military police force. International support is needed to pressure the Korean government to halt its brutal assault.
I once came across a white anarchist who was extremely ignorant with regards to his perceptions of Muslims. What was disturbing was the fact that he was attacking not only Islam, with the primitive and simplistic knowledge he had of the religion, but also Muslims in general, namely their culture, way of life, beliefs and showed a complete conviction in the media and right wing stereotypes.

In Relation to the Snatching of the Olympic Flame
On January 25th, 2006, in Trento, Italy, four anarchists from Rovereto were in court over the grabbing of the Olympic torch from its relay runner on Monday, January 23rd.

A big and dynamic demo of approximately 1.000 anarchists and anti-authoritarians took place yesterday in Athens as a manifestation of solidarity for 3 anarchist prisoners and against anti-terrorist measures, state oppression and media misinformation.
Four anarchists were arrested Monday after briefly grabbing the Olympic torch from Italian track athlete Eleonora Berlanda as the relay passed through the northern Italian city of Trento. Runners escorting the flame snatched it back.
Everyone especially anyone who is connected with the anarchist movement or who consider themself anarchists or who have friends who are anarchists should read the affidavit of the fbi agent who arrested these people in Sacramento recently.
Where freedom is another word for a whole lot left to lose: The last great commune's unhappy new year
"The Clown Army has been on the march only since the summer of 2005, but already the state it protects is in imminent peril - Christiania, a 34-hectare, 35-year-old experiment in communal life, the self-governing freetown in the heart of Denmark's capital.

Street protest is a really huge subject, but I am pretty clear why I feel that a lot of street protest is not worth the time. Protest needs some kind of anti-authoritarianism in it or it really falls pretty flat. The more I watched the “peace” community co-opt itself with police to “self-police” protests and how people have been willing to basically walk along a route police pre-approved, and to agitate in *no* way whatsoever…well, it seemed a waste of my time after a while. It seemed like a mock protest after all the watering down.
