This morning 11 defendants from last April's "Steal-a-Thon" in
Belleville (Ontario) entered into the pre-trial phase of the judicial process. The Crown is
willing to drop the charges for nine of the defendants if two of the
"ring leaders" plead guilty, go on probation, and do community service.

Joe Dale's home is under the Spadina bridge. He's got a bed, a living
a front door. Now he wants regular garbage pickup.
"This is our home and we're taking a stand," Dale says, slipping his key
into the padlock on his front door . a chain-link fence blocking off the
underside of the bridge at the foot of Spadina, a stone's throw from
SkyDome. Above the lock is a "No Trespassing" sign, adorned with the
handwritten rules of Shantytown: "No needles or crack."

Local News - A new protest tactic used by a local activist group landed 11 members in a jail cell Friday, including the groups leaders. An investigation into the Tenant Action Group is continuing following the arrest of 11 members on charges of 'counseling to commit theft, at an east-end grocery store Friday evening.

On June 17, the leading lights of Toronto Mayor David Miller's election campaign gathered at an exclusive Rosedale residence to be thanked for their efforts. OCAP was there to deliver a different message and picketed the place to the outrage of the assembled developers and labour bureaucrats.

On Thursday May 27th, people living under the Bathurst Street Bridge
watched their homes bulldozed and destroyed by a large crew of city
workers, flanked by police from numerous downtown police divisions. What

Initially peaceful, the marchers soon began vandalizing luxury cars, breaking windows and mirrors and spray-painting them with "nasty words," mostly in the area near Sherbrooke and Green Sts.
