All...notions and prejudices (supporting Zionism), long confounding international action, must now be set aside. The raw logic of Israel's distorted self-image and racist doctrines is expressed beyond confusion by the now-stark reality: the moonscape rubble of once-lovely Lebanese villages; a million desperate people trying to survive Israeli aerial attacks as they carry children and wheel disabled grandparents down cratered roads; the limp bodies of children pulled from the dusty basements of crushed buildings. This is the reality of Israel's national doctrine, the direct outcome of its racist worldview. It is endangering everyone, and it must stop.
(There) is...growing alarm among US commanders at the prospect that Iraq’s majority Shiite population might join the armed insurgency against the US-led occupation forces, which up to now has been based primarily among Iraq’s Sunni Muslims...Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Bashir al Najafi, one of Iraq’s top four Shiite clerics, (said)...the government hasn’t “been able to do anything, just make many promises” and “people are fed up with the promises. One day we will not be able to stop a popular revolution.”

(W)hat has happened to the Israeli army?...This question is now being raised not only around the world, but also in Israel itself. Clearly, there is a huge gap between the (Israeli) army's boastful arrogance, on which generations of Israelis have grown up, and the picture presented by this war...In the test of results...the strategic and tactical command of Hizbullah is decidedly better than that of our own army. All along, our army's strategy has been primitive, brutal and unsophisticated.
The world may believe--and Israel may believe--that the UN ceasefire due to come into effect at 6am today will mark the beginning of the end of the latest dirty war in Lebanon after up to 1,000 Lebanese civilians and more than 30 Israeli civilians have been killed. But the reality is quite different: the Israeli army, reeling under the Hizbollah's onslaught of the past 24 hours, is now facing the harshest guerrilla war in its history. And it is a war they may well lose.
It's impossible to speak with Waleeed Ayyoub without constant interruptions. The 33-year-old artist in Ramallah is busy dealing with requests for the fastest selling portrait in the West Bank - that of Hasan Nasrallah....Portrait posters of the Hezbollah leader are hanging everywhere in Ramallah, covering the walls and shop fronts and plastered across T-shirts and demonstration banners...Before (the war)...Ayyoub was selling from his stock of hero portraits, such as Che Guevara, Yasser Arafat, Fidel Castro, Egypt's late leader Abdel Gamal Nasser and Jesus.
Industrial Society Destroys Mind and Environment
Dear Group Members,
I want to share my article with you. This is about the link between Mind and Social / Environmental-Issues. The fast-paced, consumerist lifestyle of Industrial Society is causing exponential rise in psychological problems besides destroying the environment. All issues are interlinked. Our Minds cannot be peaceful when attention-spans are down to nanoseconds, microseconds and milliseconds. Our Minds cannot be peaceful if we destroy Nature.

I grew up Jewish in Beirut. Although I left nearly 40 years ago, my memories of Lebanon -- vibrant and multicultural -- have stayed with me. And so, my wife and I had started talking about taking a trip there...I would show her the neighborhood where I grew up, the beaches where I swam in the warm Mediterranean waters and the small mountain hotel we loved to stay at in the summer. I would also show her my school, where Jewish, Christian and Muslim children learned and grew together...(Now) we may never be able to take this trip.
"In dealing with the Middle East, be it Afghanistan, Israel, Palestine, Iraq or Turkey, some activists on the left are not willing to comprehend the significance of domestic regimes of exploitation and oppression. They see only one centre of destruction: Western imperialism. They generally ignore the domestic order, and how it is tied to imperialism...Paved with the good intention of forging solidarity with the targets of imperialist aggression, this politics inevitably moves away from internationalism and enters into the realm of ethnocentrism and national chauvinism..."
His fondness for words. His power of seduction. He hunts for a problem wherever it is. The impelling force of inspiration is befits his style. The breadth of his tastes is very well reflected in his books. He gave up his cigars so as to have the moral authority to fight smoking. He likes to prepare recipes with a sort of scientific fervor. He keeps in excellent shape through several hours of daily exercise and frequent swimming. Invincible patience. Strict discipline. He's drawn toward the unexpected by the force of his imagination. Learning to work is as important as learning to rest.
Sixteen years of civil war, of murderous sectarian acrimony, of inter-ethnic killing, suspicion and paranoia and today –after 28 days of hell unleashed upon it by the arrogant racism of a militant and ideological Zionism-89% of Lebanon’s Sunni Muslims, 80% of its Christians, 80% of its Druze and 100% of its Shiite populations support Hizbullah’s resistance against Israel and the United States.

Justice David Marshall said that talks between the province and aboriginal protesters must come to an end until the rule of law returns and police are able to enforce order on the property...Hazel Hill, a spokeswoman for the (Six Nations) occupiers (sic), called the ruling "an act of aggression,'' and said the group will decide what to do in the next few days...However, she added that the protesters are still determined to stay on the land.
On August 3, 1981, the Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization (PATCO) launched a nation-wide walk-out after years of conflict with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). President Ronald Reagan...gave the strikers 48 hours to return to work. When 11,345 ignored his ultimatum, he fired them all...PATCO's destruction ushered in a decade of lost strikes and lock-outs, triggered by management demands for pay and benefit give-backs that continue to this day in a wide range of industries.
